Almudena Cathedral, in what's known as Hapsburg Madrid, has a lovely Neo-Classic façade and a Gothic style interior. The Cathedral also a museum that takes you through the life of the Church through the seven sacraments. Its history dates back to 1879, the year when the first plans were drawn up. However, various difficulties and continued restrictions on building work meant that it was not actually completed until 1993, when it was consecrated by Pope John Paul II.
