Filmoteca Española is the historic archive that safeguards Spain’s film heritage. Its mission is to recover, research and preserve the country’s film legacy, and to promote awareness of it. Filmoteca Española shows its films at Cine Doré (at no. 3 in Calle Santa Isabel, very close to Filmoteca), which it uses to screen the films in its programme as well as to host outreach activities: book launches, round tables, conferences, talks, etc. Located in the centre of Madrid, the cinema was designed by Críspulo Moro Cabeza in 1923. From 1982 to 1990, it underwent refurbishment works to make it suitable for use by Filmoteca.
