The front of one of the houses in the Madrid Moderno housing development
The Madrid Moderno housing development, located a stone's throw away from Las Ventas Bullring, was built by Modernist architect Julián Marín between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It combines Neo-Mudéjar and Modernist elements and once boasted fifty small single-family houses, of which only twelve remain. The development was intended to foster cheap housing for social classes of modest means.
