Library of the Geomineral Museum
The purpose of the Geomineral Museum in Chamberí is to preserve, research, and raise awareness of the wealth and diversity of our geological, palaeontological and mineralogical heritage through its important collections of minerals, rocks and fossils from all regions of Spain and its former colonial territories, as well as from sites all over the world. The museum’s library dates back to 1849 when it was created by a Royal Decree of Isabel II as a Commission for the “Geological Map of Madrid and General of the Kingdom”. It is currently the library of a Public Research Organisation, specialising in Earth Sciences and related Sciences.
