Low-angle shot of the Castellana Fountain Obelisk
This monument, known as the Castellana Fountain Obelisk, the Isabella II Obelisk or the Arganzuela Park Obelisk, was commissioned by Ferdinand VII to celebrate the birth of his daughter Isabella II in 1830, although it was ultimately built to celebrate her third birthday, which coincided with her ascension to the throne following the death of her father on 29 September 1833.
