Descripción:

Oeste Park, located in the district of Moncloa, has an area of approximately 100 hectares and is over 110 years old. It was created in 1906 at the initiative of the Mayor of Madrid, Alberto Aguilera, and was designed by Celedonio Rodrigáñez, an agronomist who managed the City Council's gardens and patches of land. The park holds some unique places and features, such as the Cable Car, the Pottery School and the Temple of Debod, a 2nd Century B.C. Egyptian temple near Plaza de España that the government of Egypt gifted to Spain during construction of the Aswan Dam. The southern edge of the park is home to Ramón Ortiz Rose Garden, with an area of 15,000 square metres, where the Villa de Madrid International New Rose Competition has been held every year since 1956.
