Descripción:
This Madrid royal palace is located on Mount El Pardo, to the north of the capital. It is surrounded by 16,000 hectares of woodland and numbers amongst the royal palaces that belong to Patrimonio Nacional, Spain’s national heritage agency. It was built in the 16th century, during the reign of Philip II, over the structure of a small castle that Henry IV had ordered be built in the 15th century. In addition to its architectural beauty, the monument is known for its interior decoration. The most outstanding features are tapestries based on sketches by artists such as Bayeu and Goya. Since 1983 it has served as Spain’s official residence for heads of state on formal visits to the country. When it is not being used for this purpose it can be visited by the public
