The Pantheon of Illustrious Men, located in the cloister of the Royal Basilica of Our Lady of Atocha, is the burial place of a number of 19th-century Spanish politicians and personalities. In 1992, it was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) under the monument category. It is the final resting place of thirteen illustrious figures of Spanish political and military history. Buried in tombs carved by renowned sculptors, these include Antonio de los Ríos Rosas, Antonio Cánovas del Castillo, José Canalejas, José de Palafox, Francisco Castaños, Juan Prim and Manuel Gutiérrez de la Concha.
