Madrid boasts numerous festivities that liven up its streets, but few of them spread their cheer to as many parts of the city as the arrival of Christmas. From 24 November to the day of The Epiphany, streets, squares and buildings are illuminated with millions of lights that meet the most stringent environmental friendliness and energy efficiency standards, maximising illumination while minimising consumption. And, of course, there are the traditional Christmas trees scattered throughout the city’s various districts.
