The Manzanares River flowing through Villaverde
The Manzanares River begins and ends in the Community of Madrid. Its source is in La Pedriza, at an altitude of 2063 metres in the Guadarrama Mountains, and it passes through the city of Madrid before flowing into the Jarama River. Its flow is typically Mediterranean and remains quite low, especially in summer. It is home to various ecosystems and runs through areas of great environmental importance.
