The house where Lope de Vega lived in the Literary Quarter has been home to the Lope de Vega House-Museum since 1935. The house, built in the 16th century, was acquired in 1610 by Lope de Vega, one of the great Spanish Golden Age writers. He lived in the house until his death in 1635 and wrote some of his most famous works here. Nowadays, the Lope de Vega House-Museum is responsible for spreading knowledge about the author and his work. It also serves as a gateway to the Spanish Golden Age and to 17th century Madrid through its houses, its society, its history, its religion and its culture.
