On 25 June 2017 the Diversity Race was held in Madrid for the first time ever as part of WorldPride Madrid 2017. The competition aims to increase the visibility of sexual diversity and to support the LGBTI community. The race has two options, 10,000 m and 5,000 m. Runners travel down Madrid’s main thoroughfare, Paseo de la Castellana, from Plaza de Colón to Plaza de Castilla, passing by Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and the Nuevos Ministerios government complex.
