Descripción:

The Open-Air Sculpture Museum on Paseo de la Castellana, located under the flyover that connects the streets Calle de Juan Bravo and Calle de Eduardo Dato, boasts an excellent collection of Spanish abstract art. It opened to the public in 1972 and has an area of 4,200 m2. Chronologically speaking, the artists represented are from two generations of the Spanish avant-garde. The first, known as the “historic avant-garde”, encompasses all of the artists who blazed a trail in the 1920s and 1930s, forging new paths that deviated from the established art of the time, such as Joan Miró, Alberto Sánchez and Julio González. The second is the generation of the 1950s, heir to the avant-garde spirit that flourished before the Spanish Civil War. One of the most distinctive pieces is The Beached Mermaid, by Eduardo Chillida
