The National Archaeological Museum houses one of the world’s most important collections of ancient artefacts. Implements and works of art from different Mediterranean cultures provide an overview from prehistory to the 19th century. Located in the heart of Barrio de Salamanca, it covers a number of chapters in world art history that aren't represented in the major galleries on the nearby Paseo del Arte (Art Walk), such as Greek pottery, the Visigoth votive crowns and the Hispano-Islamic ivories.
