Casa de la Panadería was built in the 15th century and is located on the north side of Plaza Mayor. The building, originally the city's main bakery, was later occupied by San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts and by the Royal History Academy, among other institutions, until the late 19th century when it was taken over by Madrid City Council and used to house various municipal offices. It is currently the headquarters of Madrid City Council's Tourism Department.
