El Espejo

This popular café, just a stone's throw from Café Gijón, is not actually as old as it looks. It opened in 1978 in the style of the Parisian cafés of the early 19^th century, perhaps to make up for the fact that Madrid had never had a true Art Nouveau bar. With its charming pavilion featuring stunning stained-glass windows and lamps, it’s a lovely and elegant spot. The garden terrace is also a great choice for a leisurely breakfast or afternoon snack with a view of the National Library.
