Bar area in Gran Café de Gijón.
This café’s brown marble façade with wooden features and three big windows is an iconic sight in Madrid, an outstanding reminder of a time when establishments like this were meeting places for writers and intellectuals who wanted to use their voices to change the world. Café Gijón opened on 15 May 1888 thanks to the tenacity of Gumersindo García, whose nostalgia led him to name his new business after the city where he was born.
